Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Attends RPF Raising Day Parade in Valsad
Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting, and Electronics & Information Technology, attended the Raising Day Parade of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at the RPF Zonal Training Centre in Valsad today. As the Chief Guest, he honored 41 RPF personnel with prestigious awards, including the President’s Medals for Meritorious Service and Jeevan Raksha Medals, recognizing their bravery in saving passengers’ lives. The event showcased the RPF’s commitment to safeguarding the railway network and aimed to motivate its members to continue their dedicated service.
Celebrating Dedication and Discipline
During the parade, Minister Vaishnaw took the ceremonial salute, highlighting the high standards of discipline and precision exhibited by the RPF personnel. In his address, he extended warm greetings to the members on their Foundation Day, commending their unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of passengers and railway property. He specifically praised the RPF’s exemplary service during the recent Mahakumbh, where they played a crucial role in maintaining security for millions of devotees traveling to the event.

Transforming Indian Railways
In his speech, Vaishnaw emphasized the significant transformation taking place within Indian Railways under Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s leadership. Over the past 11 years, the railway network has seen the addition of nearly 35,000 kilometers of new tracks, with 99% of the network now electrified. The introduction of nearly 150 Vande Bharat and 30 Amrit Bharat Express trains has elevated the travel experience for passengers, offering modern amenities and comfort.
Additionally, the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme has initiated the redevelopment of 1,300 railway stations, with 110 already inaugurated. This ambitious project aims to enhance the infrastructure and facilities available to travelers, ensuring a more efficient and pleasant journey. The Minister’s remarks underscore the ongoing efforts to modernize the railway system, making it a vital component of India’s transportation network.
Enhancing Safety Measures
Vaishnaw also addressed the measures being implemented to enhance safety during the festive season. To accommodate increased travel demand for Diwali and Chhath, Indian Railways is operating a record number of over 12,000 special trains. This initiative aims to provide convenient travel options for passengers during peak times, ensuring that everyone can reach their destinations safely and comfortably.
The Minister highlighted the rapid deployment of the KAVACH system on major routes, including Delhi–Howrah and Delhi–Mumbai. This advanced safety technology has already been installed on 1,200 locomotives, significantly improving the safety of train operations. Furthermore, the production of approximately 7,000 coaches annually, including 3,500 general coaches, aims to enhance passenger convenience and comfort.
