Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah Congratulated NCRB National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS) Team on Winning Gold Award under Excellence in Government Process Reengineering for Digital Transformation Category-1 by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Complaints (DARPG).
In her tweet, Shri Amit Shah said that this award for excellence in e-governance delivery is a recognition of the dedication that the entire NAFIS team has dedicated to creating a foolproof fingerprint identification system, in pursuit of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of a secure India
Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and the guidance of Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, the Ministry of Home Affairs has provided NAFIS devices to all districts, police stations, central and state fingerprinting offices and central agencies such as the NIA, CBI and NCB. NAFIS has revolutionized the fingerprint recognition system in crime control. With this system, the work of tracking the involvement of interstate criminals in crimes is done with greater ease, accuracy, and efficiency across the country.
NAFIS has created a central database of criminal fingerprints, which can be accessed by users from all states, union territories and central agencies. This has resulted in a qualitative improvement in the efficiency and effectiveness of the criminal identification and investigation process.
The National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS) establishes itself as the shining example of efficient governance by winning DAPRG’s Gold Award in category 1.
