Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah approves further release of Rs. 180.40 crore to State Government of Himachal Pradesh under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF)

Union Home Minister and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah has approved the early release of 2na Central share installment of State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) amounting to Rs. 180.40 crore, for the year 2023-24, as an interim measure for Himachal Pradesh. In order to support the affected people of this state, the central government has already released 1st installment of central share of Rs. 180.40 crore to Himachal Pradesh from SDRF on 10thth July 2023, for significant measures of an immediate nature. The release of funds will help the state government to undertake relief measures to those affected during the current monsoon season.

To deal with the situation caused by the recent flash floods, storms and landslides in Himachal Pradesh, the Government of India has provided all the necessary financial and logistical assistance to the State Government of Himachal Pradesh to deal with the situation efficiently.11 Team of NDRF along with rescue boats and other necessary equipment were deployed for relief operations.01 Column of 1 PARA SF and 205 Army Aviation Squadron was deployed to Paonta Sahib for civilian evacuation. Two MI-17V5 helicopters were deployed for the evacuation mission.

The central government has also established an Interministerial Core Team (IMCT), to carry out an on-the-spot assessment of the situation and the ongoing relief work by the state government of Himachal Pradesh. The IMCT will begin field visits on July 17, 2023.

The central government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, has already released Rs. 10,031.20 crore as core share of SDRF to 27 States during the year 2023-24.
