The Department of Land Resources has undertaken several initiatives to make life easier for citizens in recent years. Under the Digital India Land Register Modernization Program, the department is making efforts towards the saturation of land register computerization and digitization of land registers for the benefit of citizens. In terms of computerization of the registry of rights and computerization of registration offices, for example, the national level of achievement was 94% as of August 8, 2023. Similarly, the digitization of maps in the country is 76%. Also, DoLR is assigning Bhu Aadhar or unique land parcel identification number to all land parcels; and in one year, nearly 9 crore of land parcels were allotted to Bhu Aadhar. Previously, the registration of documents was manual, but now the registration is carried out as an electronic registration. This has opened up the economy and greatly facilitates capital formation. The Department is implementing the Watershed component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (WDC-PMKSY) for the development of rainfed and degraded areas. About 29 million hectares of degraded land has been covered by watershed projects on 97 million hectares, which is probably the largest campaign globally.

In order to raise public awareness of these programmes, the Department has defined a Media Plan which will be launched on 11 August 2023. The first phase of the Campaign will include the Outdoor Media, Social Media and Bulk SMS components. After the first phase of the media campaign is launched, add-ons will be added later for broad and targeted reach.
