UN Pavilion Staff to Debut Stylish UNIQLO Uniforms

The United Nations Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, is set to welcome visitors starting April 13, with staff donning newly designed uniforms from UNIQLO. The uniforms, inspired by a modernized preppy style, blend elegance with functionality, showcasing a commitment to sustainability and support for refugees. This collaboration highlights the partnership between the UN and UNIQLO, emphasizing shared values of comfort and style.

Uniform Design and Features

The uniforms for the UN Pavilion staff feature a sophisticated design that includes a jacket, a jersey/cotton shirt, pants, a belt, sneakers, and socks. Men’s uniforms will be complemented by a silk tie, while women’s uniforms will include a stylish scarf. Each jacket is adorned with a unique logo patch that represents the United Nations Pavilion, originally crafted by refugee artisans through the MADE51 initiative, a project supported by the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).

This thoughtful design not only prioritizes aesthetics but also ensures comfort for the attendants, who will be engaging with visitors throughout the six-month event. The high-quality materials used in the uniforms reflect UNIQLO’s commitment to creating functional apparel that aligns with their LifeWear philosophy, which emphasizes simplicity and quality.

Collaboration Highlights Sustainability Efforts

The partnership between the United Nations and UNIQLO underscores a shared commitment to sustainability and humanitarian efforts. Maher Nasser, Assistant Secretary-General and Commissioner-General of the UN at Expo 2025, expressed gratitude for UNIQLO’s generous in-kind donation of uniforms. He noted that such collaborations exemplify the spirit of Sustainable Development Goal 17, which focuses on partnerships for achieving global goals.

UNIQLO’s support for the UN Pavilion is part of a broader initiative that began in 2006, when Fast Retailing, UNIQLO’s parent company, first partnered with UNHCR. This collaboration has evolved significantly, with UNIQLO contributing clothing donations and expanding its support for refugee families through various programs, including an in-store recycling initiative that encourages customer participation.

Expo 2025: A Global Gathering

Expo 2025 in Osaka, Kansai, Japan, will run from April 13 to October 13, attracting an estimated 28 million visitors. The UN Pavilion will operate daily from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., under the theme โ€œUnited for a Better Future.โ€ This event aims to foster dialogue and collaboration among nations, showcasing innovative solutions to global challenges.

As the UN Pavilion prepares for this significant event, the stylish and functional uniforms provided by UNIQLO will play a vital role in enhancing the experience for both staff and visitors.
