UN Pavilion at Expo 2025: A Vision for the Future

The United Nations is set to make a significant impact at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan. In just two months, the UN Pavilion will open its doors to visitors under the theme โ€œUnited for a Better Future.โ€ This pavilion will be located in the Empowering Zone of the Expo and will showcase the collaborative efforts of 35 UN entities and 15 UN Secretariat departments. The pavilion aims to highlight the UN’s achievements over the past eight decades, current initiatives to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and a vision for a sustainable future through collective action.

A Showcase of Global Impact

The UN Pavilion will feature a variety of exhibits that reflect the organization’s extensive work in addressing global challenges and humanitarian crises. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the milestones achieved by the UN since its inception in 1945. The pavilion will also highlight ongoing efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, which aim to tackle issues such as poverty, inequality, and climate change.

In addition to static exhibits, the pavilion will host special weekly events and programming aligned with the Expo’s theme weeks. These events will celebrate United Nations international days and focus on critical issues like sustainable development, human rights, climate action, and peace and security. The goal is to create an engaging environment where visitors can learn about the UN’s role in shaping a better world. A gift shop within the pavilion will offer UN and SDG-related merchandise, allowing visitors to take a piece of the experience home with them.

Engaging with Prominent Voices

The UN Pavilion will not only feature exhibits but also host a series of talks and discussions with prominent guest speakers. Senior UN officials, leading experts, celebrities, and advocates will share their insights on pressing global issues. These discussions aim to inspire visitors and encourage them to think critically about the challenges facing our world today.

Maher Nasser, the Commissioner-General of the United Nations at Expo 2025, emphasized the importance of these conversations. He stated, โ€œIt is our hope that our pavilion will serve as a dynamic platform for learning, collaboration, and inspiration for action.โ€ By bringing together diverse voices, the UN Pavilion aims to foster a spirit of cooperation and collective problem-solving.

A Call to Action for a Sustainable Future

As the United Nations celebrates its 80th anniversary, the pavilion will serve as a reminder of the organization’s enduring commitment to peace, dignity, and equality. The exhibits will showcase how the UN has influenced daily life and the importance of multilateral collaboration in addressing global challenges. Visitors will be encouraged to envision a world where everyone can thrive on a healthy planet.

Expo 2025, running from April 13 to October 13, is expected to attract over 28 million visitors. The UN Pavilion will be open daily from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., providing ample opportunity for attendees to engage with the exhibits and programming. This event represents a unique chance for individuals to learn about the UN’s work and to become part of a global movement for positive change.
