UIDAI Celebrates Winners of Biometrics SDK Benchmarking Challenge 2025

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has successfully wrapped up the Biometrics SDK Benchmarking Challenge 2025, focusing on fingerprint recognition technology. The winners were honored in a ceremony held at UIDAI’s Head Office in New Delhi, marking a significant milestone in the organization’s commitment to enhancing biometric research and innovation.
This benchmarking challenge was initiated as part of UIDAI’s broader efforts to identify the most effective solutions for one-to-one fingerprint matching. By targeting leading global technology providers and research institutions, UIDAI aimed to spotlight high-performing fingerprint verification systems.
A standout aspect of this competition was the utilization of a distinctive fingerprint dataset, specifically designed for children aged 5 to 10 years. Each sample included a gap of 5 to 10 years, allowing evaluators to investigate how well these fingerprint verification systems adapt as children grow. This rare dataset not only contributes to scientific understanding but also exemplifies UIDAI’s dedication to utilizing evidence-based assessments and adhering to global best practices.
The competition garnered an impressive total of 2,106 applications, indicating a robust global interest in UIDAI’s benchmarking endeavors. Following a comprehensive technical screening and stringent security assessments, three submissions were finalized for detailed evaluation.
After an exhaustive set of performance tests, Neurotechnology from Lithuania claimed the top spot, with Innovatrics from Slovakia securing second place. UIDAI extended its congratulations to the winners and expressed gratitude to all participants for their engaging contributions. The Authority reaffirmed that this initiative is part of its overarching goal to further research, development, and innovation in the field of biometrics, ensuring Aadhaar remains a leader in providing secure, reliable, and inclusive digital identity services.
In line with these objectives, UIDAI plans to announce similar SDK Benchmarking Competitions for Face and Iris modalities in the near future, inviting global research and development communities to take part and collaborate in this critical area.
