TRAI Launches Competition for Designing Official Logo for India’s Digital Connectivity Rating Framework
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has launched an exciting competition inviting individuals aged 15 and older to design the official logo for the Digital Connectivity Rating (DCR) framework. This initiative aims to raise awareness and encourage public involvement in creating a symbol that represents India’s first rating system for digital connectivity in buildings and public infrastructure. The winning design will serve as the official emblem for all DCR-related certifications and outreach efforts.
Competition Overview
The DCR framework, established under the Rating of Properties for Digital Connectivity Regulations, 2024, is designed to assess how well buildings can support high-quality digital connectivity. This includes evaluating mobile coverage, broadband infrastructure, and overall service performance. By introducing this rating system, TRAI aims to enhance transparency and accountability in indoor digital infrastructure, allowing property managers to apply for ratings through registered Digital Connectivity Rating Agencies (DCRAs). The competition for the logo is a key part of this initiative, encouraging creativity and public engagement in shaping the identity of the DCR framework.
Eligibility and Submission Guidelines
The logo design competition is open to all individuals aged 15 years and above. Participants can submit their entries until November 5, 2025. Each participant may submit up to two designs in JPG, PNG, or PDF formats, with a maximum file size of 5MB. Submissions should be sent via email to [email protected]. Along with their designs, participants must provide their name, age, address, contact details, profession, and valid ID proof. Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit their designs in open file formats such as .AI, .EPS, or .SVG for further evaluation. Importantly, the winning designer must agree to transfer full Intellectual Property Rights to TRAI.
Evaluation Criteria and Prizes
Entries will be judged on several criteria, including originality, inclusivity, and relevance to the core values of the DCR framework, which emphasizes trust, readiness, and accessibility. Designs should visually represent various infrastructure types, such as residential buildings, highways, and public spaces. Additionally, the aesthetic quality, technical execution, and scalability of the designs across different formats will be considered. The first-place winner will receive a cash prize of ₹10,000 and a Certificate of Recognition from TRAI, while the second-place winner will earn ₹5,000 and a similar certificate. The winning logo will be adopted as the official DCR emblem and may be featured in TRAI’s promotional materials.
Promoting Digital Infrastructure Awareness
This logo competition is part of TRAI’s broader efforts to promote awareness of digital infrastructure as an essential utility in both public and private sectors. By recognizing various types of infrastructure, including offices, malls, hospitals, and transport hubs, the initiative underscores the importance of inclusivity in the digital ecosystem.
