Top Stock Recommendations: Nifty Outlook for the Week of May 4-8

The stock market is witnessing a notable shift as Sudeep Shah, Head of Technical Research and Derivatives at SBI Securities, has identified Yatharth Hospital & Trauma Care Services Ltd and Gujarat Ambuja Exports Ltd as the top stock picks for the week starting May 4, 2026. This comes on the heels of a strong performance by the Nifty index, which ended April with a significant gain of over 7%, breaking a four-month losing streak. However, the market faces uncertainty as it navigates through rising crude oil prices and geopolitical tensions, prompting analysts to closely monitor key support and resistance levels.

Nifty Index Performance

The Nifty index concluded April on a high note, recovering from a low of 22,182 on April 2 to gain over 2,400 points in just 11 trading sessions. This rally was largely fueled by improved global risk sentiment, which eased following geopolitical tensions. Despite this impressive recovery, the index has recently entered a consolidation phase, fluctuating between 24,335 and 23,798. Analysts attribute this indecision to various factors, including rising crude oil prices, uncertainty surrounding upcoming elections, and currency weakness.

Looking ahead, the Nifty faces immediate resistance in the 24,300 to 24,350 range. A sustained breakout above this level could lead to further gains, potentially reaching 24,500 and 24,700. Conversely, the 23,800 to 23,750 range serves as critical support. A decisive break below 23,750 could trigger additional selling pressure, pushing the index down towards 23,600 and 23,400. As the market grapples with these mixed signals, volatility is expected to remain elevated in the coming days.

Bank Nifty Analysis

The Bank Nifty index also showed strong performance in April, gaining 9.13% and reaching a high of 57,456 on April 21. However, it has since experienced a sharp correction, losing nearly 2,600 points in just six trading sessions. This price action has resulted in the formation of a bearish candle on the monthly chart, indicating selling pressure at higher levels.

In recent trading, the Bank Nifty has underperformed compared to other major indices and is currently trading below its key moving averages, which are trending downward. The daily Relative Strength Index (RSI) stands at 45.54, below its 9-day average, suggesting a lack of near-term bullish momentum. The critical support zone for the Bank Nifty is identified between 54,500 and 54,400, coinciding with a previous swing low. A sustained breakdown below this level could intensify selling pressure, potentially pushing the index down towards 53,500. On the upside, the 20-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA) zone of 55,500 to 55,600 is expected to act as immediate resistance.

Top Stock Recommendations

Sudeep Shah has highlighted Yatharth Hospital & Trauma Care Services Ltd as a strong buy, noting its decisive breakout on both daily and weekly charts. The stock has established a higher high-higher low structure and is trading above key moving averages, indicating robust trend strength. The RSI has recently rebounded, signaling sustained bullish momentum. Investors are advised to accumulate shares in the range of 820-810, with a stop-loss set at 785. The stock is projected to test the 880 level in the short term.

Similarly, Gujarat Ambuja Exports Ltd has shown healthy consolidation within the 146-160 range since early April. The 146 level has transitioned from resistance to strong support, aligning with the 20-day EMA. Despite the sideways movement, the stock remains above this key moving average, reflecting underlying strength. The recent DI+ crossover and RSI reclaiming 60 suggest improving momentum, indicating a potential upside breakout. Investors are encouraged to accumulate shares in the range of 156-154, with a stop-loss at 148, as the stock is expected to test the 166 level shortly.
