This follows a formal announcement expected next week regarding his new position. Additionally, notable figures such as Paras Mhambrey and Amit Dani have been assigned key coaching roles across various teams in the league.
Nayar Takes on Dual Roles
Abhishek Nayar, who recently stepped down from his role as assistant coach for the Indian national team, is making a swift transition into the IPL arena. Initially named the assistant coach for the Kolkata Knight Riders, he is also poised to assume the role of mentor for the Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals. This new position is part of the ongoing preparations for the T20 Mumbai League, which is scheduled to begin in late May. A reliable source confirmed that an official announcement regarding Nayar’s mentorship will be made shortly.
The Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals are one of the two newly-auctioned teams in this season’s league, owned by a consortium including Royal Edge Sports & Entertainment. With Nayarโs wealth of experience and tactical knowledge, the team is looking to build a strong foundation ahead of the season.
Coaching Lineup for T20 Mumbai League
In addition to Nayar, the coaching staff for the Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals will feature former Mumbai seamer Amit Dani as the head coach. This combination of seasoned coaches aims to create a competitive environment for the team. The league has attracted various coaching talents, with former India bowling coach Paras Mhambrey stepping in as the head coach of ARCS Andheri, another participating team.
Mhambrey will be supported by former left-arm spinner Rajesh Pawar as the assistant coach. The team will also benefit from the expertise of former India team masseur Ramesh Mane and ex-Mumbai strength and conditioning coach Amogh Pandit, who will serve as the trainer. The diverse coaching lineup indicates a strategic approach to enhancing team performance across the league.
