His last appearance in an ODI was during the 2023 Cricket World Cup final against Australia, where he scored 18 runs. Since then, he has not participated in any ODIs, reflecting his ongoing difficulties with the format.

He reminisced about the electrifying atmosphere during the 2023 ODI World Cup, which showcased the enduring appeal of 50-over cricket. The excitement and emotional intensity of the tournament stood out to him, contrasting with his experiences in T20 World Cups. “The vibe, the whole atmosphere of that format, the build-up going into the final, was completely different,” he explained. Yadav’s reflections underline the distinct qualities that both ODI and T20 formats bring to the sport, each with its own allure and challenges.
