At the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Sundar Pichai, the CEO of Google, hailed artificial intelligence as a transformative force for the current decade. Pichai stressed the strategic value of collaboration between the United States and India, asserting, “The US-India partnership has a critical role to play.” He expressed strong confidence in India’s potential, stating, “I believe India is going to have an extraordinary trajectory with AI, and we are supporting it with a full-stack commitment, including products, scaling, and infrastructure.” This commitment, according to Pichai, involves three key areas: product development, skill-building, and infrastructure enhancement.
Real-World Applications and Workforce Development
The Google chief highlighted various initiatives that showcase real-world applications of AI, from providing timely monsoon forecasts for farmers to assisting healthcare professionals in screening for conditions like diabetic retinopathy. Additionally, he underlined the importance of meaningful access to AI tools in Indian languages. To bolster workforce development, Pichai announced plans through the AI Skill House initiative, aiming to equip 10 million future Indian leaders with essential skills needed for global progress.
Investments in AI Infrastructure
Pichai also referenced Google’s substantial $15 billion investment in India, which includes the establishment of an AI hub in Vizag. This hub is anticipated to deliver gigawatt-scale computing capabilities to businesses throughout the country, enhancing technological advancements across various sectors.

He further introduced the India–America Connect initiative, intended to expand subsea cable routes between the two nations, which he described as “a literal bridge between our two countries.” Pichai emphasized the necessity of resilience, stating, “None of this would be possible without stable supply chains built on a foundation of shared trust.” This statement reinforces a central theme: the future of AI in India relies not only on technological advancements but also on trustworthy partnerships, robust skill development, and continuous infrastructure investment founded on strong US-India collaboration.
