Sujal Gram Samvad Brings Rural Voices to Policymakers
The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS) is gearing up for the second edition of the innovative ‘Sujal Gram Samvad’ on December 19, 2025. This significant event will serve as a multilingual platform, fostering direct communication between the Union Government and rural communities across India.
Distinguished guests, including the Hon’ble Minister of Jal Shakti, Shri C.R. Patil, and the Hon’ble Minister of State for Jal Shakti, Shri V. Somanna, will engage with beneficiaries and stakeholders via video conferencing starting at 11:00 AM. This initiative is designed to not only gather insights but also to deepen the connection between policy decisions and the realities faced by rural citizens.
Bridging Gaps through Dialogue
Sujal Gram Samvad stands out as a pioneering effort to eliminate communication barriers between policymakers and grassroots representatives. By facilitating discussions in regional languages, the program empowers village representatives—such as women, members of Village Water and Sanitation Committees (VWSC), students, and community leaders—to share their experiences regarding the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ initiative in their native dialects.
This second edition follows the successful inaugural Samvad held on November 18, 2025, which engaged participants from 12 States and Union Territories in 12 languages. This new iteration will concentrate on eight specific states, enhancing the focus and effectiveness of the dialogue.
Event Details and Participant Engagement
The event is set for December 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM, conducted via video conferencing. Key participants from the villages will include Sarpanchs, Gram Panchayat functionaries, JJM beneficiaries, VWSC members, women’s groups, and community leaders.
To ensure effective communication, the DDWS has strategically assigned officials and consultants skilled in the local dialects of the participating villages. This approach is designed to foster a more inclusive atmosphere where every voice can be heard and understood.
