STPI Electropreneur Summit 2026 Unveils New Initiatives for ESDM Growth
The Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), operating under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), kicked off the STPI Electropreneur Summit 2026 at IIIT-Delhi. This significant event convened influential figures from the government, academia, and industry to discuss the future of India’s Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) landscape.
Launch of Open Challenge Programme
A standout feature of the summit was the introduction of the Open Challenge Programme for the STPI Electropreneur Park. This initiative is aimed at scouting and backing innovative tech solutions and startups within the ESDM sector. During the summit, multiple memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were signed between AIC STPINEXT INITIATIVES and various Spoke Centres from regions including Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh. Notable investors, such as Indian Angel Network Services Private Limited and Solara VC, also participated to enhance collaboration and bolster the Electropreneur ecosystem.
Inaugural Session Highlights
The summit commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting, followed by welcoming remarks from Mrs. Vandana Srivastava, Director of STPI-Noida. Key industry figures delivered insightful addresses, including Shri Pradeep Gupta from CyberMedia, Shri Ashok Chandak, President of IESA & SEMI India, and Prof. Sandeep Sen, Director of IIIT-Delhi. Shri K.K. Singh, Joint Secretary of MeitY, presented a special address underscoring the crucial role of innovation in the ESDM sector and the government’s ongoing efforts to fuel this growth. He remarked on the transformation in India’s technology landscape and emphasized efforts aiming for significant outcomes, including the nurturing of 500 new startups across the nation.
Opportunities for Innovators
Shri Arvind Kumar, Director General of STPI, also added to the conversation by pointing out the rapid evolution of India’s electronics industry. He observed that domestic electronics production has seen a sevenfold increase over the past decade. The summit’s discussions focused on highlighting the potential for young innovators in areas such as Deep Tech and AI, especially as the government rolls out supportive measures like the India AI Mission.
Panel Discussions and Collaboration
The afternoon session featured a technical address by Shri S.K. Marwah, Advisor, R&D Electronics Division, MeitY, which set the scene for a vital panel discussion titled “Bridging the Gap: Accelerating ESDM Innovation through Government-Academia-Industry Synergies.” Moderated by Dr. Anuj Grover from IIIT-Delhi, the panel included experts from various sectors discussing how collaborations can foster further growth in ESDM innovation.
