Special invitees of Independence Day Celebration, 2023 visit Historical Places in national capital

On the occasion of 77th Independence Day, the nation will witness the celebrations from the Red Fort in New Delhi in the presence of special guests from all over India. These guests are particularly invited to the capital to witness the raising of the national flag by the Prime Minister and listen to his address to the nation.

Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy, Govt. of India, Department of Fisheries is pleased to announce that 50 fishermen along with their spouses from 10 States and 2 UTs have been invited as special guests to attend the Independence Day Ceremony, 2023 at Red Fort Delhi on 15th August 2023. This is a unique initiative to honor and recognize the fishing community’s contribution to the nation’s economy and food security.

Today the group also visited the National War Memorial, Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya and India Gate. The group is one of about 1,800 people invited from different sectors across the country to participate in the Independence Day celebrations. The initiative was taken in line with the government’s vision of ‘Jan Bhagidari’.

A fisherman, Kanhaiya Lal Solanki from Gujarat, said, “I am very happy and feel proud of the invitation to the Independence Day celebration. None of the prime ministers since Independence Day have invited fishermen to celebrate in Delhi. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi respected us. I am grateful to Modi ji.
