Snapchat Rolls Out New AI-Powered Video Lenses for Paid Subscribers

Snapchat has launched a groundbreaking feature called AI Video Lenses, enhancing user experience with a blend of Augmented Reality (AR) and generative AI. Announced on Thursday, these innovative Lenses are currently exclusive to Snapchat’s premium subscription tier, known as Platinum. Users can explore three initial Lenses, with plans for weekly additions, allowing for creative video sharing among friends and on Stories and Spotlight.
Introducing AI Video Lenses
In a recent announcement, Snapchat detailed its latest feature, AI Video Lenses, which utilizes the company’s proprietary generative video model. This technology was first introduced at the Snap Partner Summit in September of the previous year, where it was made available to a select group of creators for beta testing. Now, Snapchat is broadening access to this exciting feature, making it available to its Platinum subscribers. Snapchat Platinum, the platform’s highest subscription tier, is priced at Rs. 99 per month. This subscription not only provides an ad-free experience but also unlocks a range of exclusive features, including the new AI Video Lenses. Currently, users can enjoy three unique Lenses, with plans for more to be introduced in the near future.
Features of the New Lenses
The initial release includes three captivating Lenses: โRaccoon,โ โFox,โ and โSpring Flowers.โ The first two Lenses allow users to add animated raccoons and foxes to their Snaps, creating the illusion that these animals are interacting with the user. The โSpring Flowersโ Lens offers a stunning zoom-out effect, showcasing the user holding a large bouquet of flowers. While these three Lenses are available now, Snapchat has committed to rolling out additional options weekly, enhancing the creative possibilities for users. Snapchat Platinum subscribers can easily access these Lenses at the start of the Lens carousel or by searching for their names. To utilize the effects, users simply select a Lens and capture a Snap using either the rear or front-facing camera. Although there may be a slight delay in rendering the videos, users can continue to navigate the platform without interruption during this process.
Sharing and Saving AI-Generated Videos
Once the AI-generated videos are fully rendered, they are automatically saved to the user’s Memories. This feature allows for seamless sharing with friends or posting to Stories and Spotlight, enabling users to showcase their creativity. Snapchat’s introduction of AI Video Lenses marks a significant step in enhancing user engagement and expanding the platform’s creative tools, making it an exciting time for Snapchat enthusiasts.
