Shri Piyush Goyal to visit New York and Washington DC

To participate in the India-US Trade Policy Forum, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal will be in New York and Washington DC from 9-11 January 2023.

During the first leg of the trip, the minister will interact with CEOs of reputed multinational enterprises, attend a community event, join roundtable meetings with business leaders and think tanks, and visit industries.

On 11th January 2023, he’ll attend the 13th Trade Policy Forum (TPF). He’ll also meet USTR Ambassador Katherine Tai one-on-one before delegation-level talks.

On 23 November 2021, the 12th TPF Ministerial meeting was held in New Delhi after four years. The working groups were reactivated after the last ministerial. The TPF is a platform for continuous engagement between two countries in the area of trade and to improve trade and investment relations.

Both countries are looking forward to the meeting and hopeful they’ll make progress. From the Indian side, the TPF is chaired by the Commerce and Industry Minister, and from the US side, by the USTR.

A bilateral meeting with Gina Raimondo will also take place in Washington DC. Interaction with some industry leaders will also happen.

India and the US are natural partners with strong trade complementarities, long-term economic and diplomatic relations, and vibrant democracies. Both countries are also part of QUAD, I2U2 (India-Israel/UAE-USA), and IPEF (Indo-Pacific Economic Framework). Regular leadership exchanges have been a big part of the growing bilateral relationship. These visits have helped strengthen the multifaceted ties between the two countries.
