Shah Rukh Khan Reveals Exciting Insights for WAVES Summit 2025

Last week, Bollywood Hungama announced that the inaugural World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES Summit) is set to take place at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai from May 1 to May 4, 2025. This highly anticipated event will feature some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, promising an exciting lineup of panels and discussions. With a schedule now released, attendees can look forward to engaging sessions that highlight the evolution and future of Indian cinema and entertainment.

Star-Studded Panels Kick Off the Summit

The WAVES Summit will commence with an extraordinary panel titled “Legends & Legacies: The Stories That Shaped Indiaโ€™s Soul.” Moderated by Akshay Kumar, this session will showcase iconic figures such as Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Mithun Chakraborty, Rajinikanth, Mohanlal, and Chiranjeevi. This gathering of legends is expected to be one of the most remarkable discussions in the history of Indian cinema. Following this, Karan Johar will lead the panel “The New Mainstream: Breaking Borders, Building Legends,” featuring prominent personalities like S S Rajamouli, A R Rahman, Anil Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal.

The day will continue with the “Multiple Industries: Best Practices” session, moderated by Anupama Chopra, which will include actors Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan will then take the stage for a fireside chat titled “The Journey: From Outsider to Ruler,” also moderated by Karan Johar. Allu Arjun will contribute to the discussions with the panel “India’s Creative Ascent: M&E Leaders on Becoming a Global Powerhouse,” alongside international figures such as German footballer Ariane Hingst and US singer Mary Jorie Millben. The day will conclude with a tribute to the late filmmaker Manoj Kumar, featuring his son Kunal Goswami and other notable personalities.

A Day of Insight and Collaboration

The second day of the summit will feature Aamir Khan in the session “Studios of the Future: Putting India on World Studio Map,” moderated by Ritesh Sidhwani. He will be joined by industry leaders including producer Dinesh Vijan and Prime Focus’s Namit Malhotra. In the afternoon, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor will unite for the “Cinema: The Soft Power” session, alongside Nana Patekar and Vijay Devarakonda, moderated by Karan Johar.

Aamir Khan will return in the evening for the “Indian Cinema, Oriental Look” session, which will also include directors Peter Ho Sun Chun and Stanley Tong. Additionally, he will conduct a masterclass titled “Redefining Indian Cinema.” Abhishek Bachchan will participate in the panel “Pan-Indian Cinema: Myth or Momentum?” with Nagarjuna and Amitabh Bachchan, while Shraddha Kapoor will discuss “Trends and Virality: How Gen Z Consumes Content” alongside Instagram’s Adam Mosseri. The day will wrap up with Bhushan Kumar discussing the global impact of Indian music.

Exploring the Future of Entertainment

On the third day, Ted Sarandos, CEO of Netflix, will engage in a fireside chat during the session “Streaming the New India: Culture, Connectivity & Creative Capital.” This will be followed by a discussion on the “OTT Revolution: How AI, Personalization & Interactive Content Are Changing Streaming Landscape,” featuring industry experts like Neeraj Roy and Vishal Dhupar, moderated by Gaurav Gandhi of Amazon Prime Video. Farhan Akhtar will also hold a masterclass focused on the art of direction. The final day of the summit will see Richie Mehta, known for his work on “Delhi Crime,” conducting a masterclass on filmmaking. This concluding session promises to provide valuable insights into the craft and future of cinema. The WAVES Summit 2025 is shaping up to be a landmark event in the entertainment industry, bringing together a diverse array of talent and expertise to discuss the future of audio-visual arts in India and beyond.
