The general secretary of the Muslim World League, Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, invited the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu to Rashtrapati Bhavan today (July 12, 2023).

Welcoming Dr Al-Issa on his first official visit to India, the President said that India appreciates the role and goals of the Muslim World League in promoting the values ​​of tolerance, moderation of conscience and interreligious dialogue. He said that India, as a multicultural, multilingual, multiethnic and multireligious society, celebrates unity in diversity. Our more than 200 million Indian Muslim brothers and sisters make us the country with the second largest population of Muslims in the world.

The president said India attaches great importance to its relationship with Saudi Arabia. The two countries have a long history of friendly relations rooted in trade and bonds between people. Both of our countries have valuable lessons to share with the world, he added.

The president said India and Saudi Arabia both condemn terrorism in all its forms and call for “zero tolerance” against terrorism. The two leaders agreed that a holistic approach is needed to counter terrorism and violent extremism, and this is only possible by engaging with moderate schools of thought. The president appreciated the position of Dr. Al-Issa against extremism, terrorism and violence. He expressed confidence that his visit to India would provide more possibilities for cooperation with the Muslim World League.
