Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), holds review meeting under Financial Inclusion Schemes with heads of PSBs and other organisations

Dr Vivek Joshi, Secretary of the Department of Financial Services (DFS), Ministry of Finance, today chaired a review meeting with the heads of Public Sector Banks (PSB). The NABARD President also attended the review meeting.

During the meeting, the performance of the various pensions (Jan Suraksha) schematics included Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), Atal Yojana Guesthouse (APY), Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY), AND Get up India. Dr. Joshi urged PSBs to achieve the targets assigned to them under various financial inclusion programmes as soon as possible for the current year.

During the meeting, Dr. Joshi also had discussions with the banks with a focus on the ongoing progress Jan Suraksha campaign of PMJJBY and PMSBY programs in all Gram Panchayat of the country to be held from 01.04.2023 to 31.07.2023. Additionally, Dr Joshi urged bank bosses to review progress regularly & ensure the achievement of the objectives of saturation campaign.

In the meeting, issues related to digital transactions were discussed with particular attention to the promotion of digital payments. The Aspirational Blocks Program (ABP) was also discussed.

The meeting also reviewed the status of the advisory committee meeting’s decisions regarding the holding of a special District Level Review Committee (DLRC) to prepare a roadmap to cover unbanked adults and credit awareness campaign in credit deficient districts.
