Screening of International Award-Winning Film ‘Selfie Please’ at IGNCA

Delhi Teachers University, in partnership with the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), hosted a special screening of the acclaimed short film “Selfie Please” at IGNCAโ€™s Samvet Auditorium. The film explores the dynamics of a family with a daughter who has Down Syndrome, highlighting the emotional struggles of her younger sister who feels overshadowed. Directed by Anu Singh Chaudhary, the film aims to shed light on sensitive family issues with depth and compassion.

Inaugural Session Highlights

The event commenced with insightful addresses from theatre expert Malavika Joshi and Delhi Teachers University Vice Chancellor, Prof. Anu Singh Lather. Joshi emphasized the film’s sensitive subject matter, noting that the title “Selfie Please” carries a profound message. She expressed confidence that the film, despite its brief 15-minute runtime, has the power to shift viewers’ perspectives on life. Prof. Lather echoed this sentiment, stressing the importance of connecting higher education with the realms of theatre and media. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Sanjeev Rai, Registrar of Delhi Teachers University, with an introduction by Sahar Baig. The panelists shared their insights on the film’s themes, engaging the audience in a Q&A session that addressed various questions related to the film’s content and message.
