Samsung Urges Users to Enable New Anti-Theft Feature

Samsung UK has issued a strong call to action for users of compatible Galaxy devices, urging them to activate and update the latest anti-theft features. This initiative comes in response to a nationwide effort by the UK Home Office to combat the increasing incidents of smartphone theft. The company has reached out to over 40 million Samsung account holders in the UK, delivering a public safety message through various customer communication channels and the Samsung Members platform.
Samsung to Expand Anti-Theft Features to More Galaxy Devices
Samsung has announced plans to broaden the availability of its anti-theft features to a wider range of Galaxy devices. The company is actively promoting this initiative through an awareness campaign that includes advertisements at its Piccadilly Lights location and in tube and train stations across central London. Additionally, Samsung is utilizing online video, connected TV, and broadcaster video on demand channels to reach users throughout the UK.
The recent One UI 7 update has introduced significant enhancements to Samsung’s existing anti-theft features. Notably, the new Anti-Robbery suite, which includes Identity Check and Security Delay, was previously exclusive to the Galaxy S25 series. Now, these features are being extended to the Galaxy S24, S23, S22 series, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 6, Z Flip 6, Z Fold 5, and Z Flip 5. Samsung plans to roll out these features to additional devices later this year.
Enhanced Theft Protection Suite
Samsung’s updated Theft Protection suite comprises three key features designed to enhance device security. The first is Theft Detection Lock, which employs machine learning to identify sudden movements indicative of theft, such as snatching, and promptly locks the screen. The second feature, Offline Device Lock, automatically secures the device if it remains disconnected from the network for an extended period. Lastly, Remote Lock allows users to lock their device remotely by verifying their phone number, providing an additional layer of security.
These features aim to empower users with tools to protect their devices from theft effectively. By leveraging advanced technology, Samsung is working to ensure that users can maintain control over their devices even in the event of theft.
New Anti-Robbery Features Introduced
With the rollout of the One UI 7 update, Samsung has introduced two new Anti-Robbery features designed to enhance user security. The first feature, Identity Check, requires users to perform biometric authentication for any changes to sensitive security settings when they are in unfamiliar locations. This adds an extra layer of protection against unauthorized access.
The second feature, Security Delay, implements a one-hour delay when users attempt to reset biometric data. This delay is intended to provide users with the necessary time to lock their stolen phone from a connected device before any unauthorized access can occur. Together, these features represent Samsung’s commitment to improving user security and addressing the growing concerns surrounding smartphone theft in the UK.
