Samsung Galaxy Watch Introduces Bedtime Guidance and Vascular Load Features

Samsung has unveiled a range of innovative features for its Galaxy Watch, set to be included in the upcoming One UI 8 Watch update. These enhancements are designed to promote healthier lifestyle choices among users. Notable additions include the Bedtime Guidance feature, which analyzes sleep patterns to recommend optimal sleep times, and Vascular Load, which assesses stress on the vascular system during sleep. However, some features will only be available on select Galaxy Watch models.
New Health Features in One UI 8 Watch
In a recent announcement, Samsung detailed the exciting new features coming with the One UI 8 Watch update. One of the standout additions is the Bedtime Guidance feature. This tool helps users determine the best time to sleep by evaluating their sleep data from the past three days. By analyzing factors such as sleep pressure and circadian rhythm, the Galaxy Watch can suggest a bedtime that maximizes alertness for the following day. This feature is particularly beneficial for individuals recovering from irregular sleep patterns, providing them with tailored advice to improve their rest.
Another significant feature is Vascular Load, which will be available on the Galaxy Watch Ultra and later models. This function measures the stress placed on the vascular system during sleep, offering insights into overall health by tracking sleep, exercise, and stress levels. To utilize this feature, users must wear their smartwatch while sleeping, allowing for accurate data collection and analysis.
Running Coach for Enhanced Training
Samsung has also introduced the Running Coach feature, aimed at assisting users in training safely for demanding physical activities, such as marathons. This feature provides real-time guidance and personalized training plans, incorporating injury-prevention routines tailored to the user’s fitness level. To benefit from Running Coach, users need to wear the Galaxy Watch and run for a duration of 12 minutes. This short run allows the watch to perform a performance analysis and assign a running score between 1 and 10. Based on this data, the smartwatch generates a customized training plan to help users prepare for their marathon goals.
Antioxidant Measurement for Health Insights
Additionally, the One UI 8 Watch update will include an Antioxidant measurement feature, which has been recently reported to be available with the Galaxy Watch 8 series. This innovative feature measures beta carotene levels in just five seconds, utilizing the light-activated BioActive Sensor located on the back of the Galaxy Watch. By providing insights into antioxidant levels, this feature encourages users to make healthier lifestyle choices and adopt beneficial habits.
It is important to note that both the Antioxidant Index and Vascular Load features are exclusive to the Galaxy Watch Ultra and later models. All three new features will be compatible with Android phones running Android 10 or higher and will require the Samsung Health app for full functionality.
