Salesforce Unveils Agentforce 360 Amid Rising Enterprise AI Competition

Salesforce has unveiled its latest AI agent platform, Agentforce 360, as it aims to attract enterprises in a competitive AI software market. The announcement was made ahead of the company’s annual Dreamforce customer conference, set to begin on October 14. This new version introduces innovative features, including enhanced AI agent instructions, a new agent-building platform, and improved integration with messaging app Slack.

New Features of Agentforce 360

Agentforce 360 introduces several significant enhancements designed to improve user experience and flexibility. One of the standout features is the AI agent prompting tool, Agent Script, which will enter beta testing in November. This tool allows users to program AI agents to respond more effectively to various scenarios, particularly in unpredictable customer interactions. By utilizing “if/then” logic, Agent Script aims to make AI responses more adaptable and reliable.

Additionally, users will have access to advanced “reasoning” models powered by leading AI companies like Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google Gemini. These models are designed to process information before responding, moving beyond simple pattern recognition to offer more thoughtful interactions. This capability is expected to enhance the overall effectiveness of AI agents in customer service and other applications.

Agentforce Builder and Slack Integration

Salesforce is also launching the Agentforce Builder, a comprehensive tool that enables users to create, test, and deploy AI agents from a single platform. This tool, which will also be available in beta in November, includes Agentforce Vibes, a coding tool aimed at enhancing app development for enterprises. The integration of these tools is expected to streamline the process of building AI agents, making it more accessible for businesses.

Moreover, Salesforce is expanding its integration with Slack, allowing core applications like Agentforce Sales, IT, and HR to be directly accessible within the messaging platform. This integration is set to roll out starting this month and will continue to expand through early 2026. Slack is also piloting a new version of its Slackbot, designed to function as a personalized AI agent that learns from user interactions to provide tailored insights and suggestions.

Market Context and Competition

The launch of Agentforce 360 comes at a pivotal moment for the enterprise AI market, where companies are increasingly introducing AI features for their clients. However, many enterprises are struggling to see a return on their investments in these technologies. Last week, Google announced Gemini Enterprise, a suite of tools aimed at building enterprise-grade AI agents, with notable clients such as Figma and Klarna already on board.

Anthropic is also gaining traction with its enterprise product, Claude Enterprise, recently securing a significant deal with Deloitte to deploy its chatbot across the consulting giant’s global workforce. This competitive landscape highlights the urgency for Salesforce to differentiate its offerings and demonstrate the value of its AI solutions.

Salesforce’s Position in the AI Landscape

Salesforce claims that its Agentforce platform boasts 12,000 customers, significantly outpacing its competitors. Early adopters of the Agentforce 360 upgrades include prominent companies like Lennar, Adecco, and Pearson. Despite these advancements, a recent MIT study revealed that 95% of enterprise AI pilots fail to reach production, indicating that many companies still struggle to justify their investments in AI tools. As Salesforce rolls out its latest features, it will be crucial for the company to address these challenges and prove the effectiveness of its AI solutions in real-world applications.
