Rural Development Ministry Launches Digital Internal Audit Portal

In a landmark decision aimed at enhancing digital governance, the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) has unveiled a cutting-edge Internal Audit Portal. This innovative platform will revolutionize traditional audit processes, shifting them from manual tracking to a centralized, real-time digital system. By doing so, the portal promises to boost transparency and accountability within the institution.

The launch took place during a review meeting attended by Shri Shailesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of MoRD, along with senior officials including Shri Akhilesh Jha, Chief Controller of Accounts (CCA), and various Joint Secretaries from the department. This initiative signifies the government’s commitment to modernizing its audit practices.

Direct Oversight Enhanced

A key feature of the new portal is its Secretary-level access, which allows for unprecedented oversight of audit activities across all departments. This level of access ensures that senior leaders can sidestep administrative delays, granting them immediate access to essential data that supports evidence-based decision-making.

Shri Shailesh Kumar Singh emphasized the importance of the portal, stating, “The Internal Audit Portal will play a pivotal role in strengthening oversight and ensuring timely action on audit findings. By leveraging this technology, we are guaranteeing that our governance mechanisms are not only efficient but also profoundly impactful for the rural sectors we serve.”

Innovative Features of the Rural Internal Audit Portal

The portal, accessible at https://ruralaudit.dord.gov.in, introduces an array of features designed to enhance the workflow within the Ministry:

• Real-Time Dashboard: Users can monitor audit statuses, Action Taken Reports (ATRs), and pending compliance easily.
• Escalation Mechanism: Automated notifications will prompt action in case of compliance delays, holding all administrative levels accountable.
• Role-Based Access: This feature ensures that data integrity is maintained through secure, access-controlled environments that facilitate collaboration across departments.
• Seamless Coordination: A centralized framework allows for efficient tracking of audit observations from when they are raised in the field to their resolution at headquarters.
