Realme GT 8 Teased Ahead of October Launch; Tipster Reveals Display and Battery Details

Realme is gearing up to unveil its latest smartphone, the Realme GT 8, following the successful launch of the Realme GT 7 in India earlier this year. The upcoming device is expected to feature significant upgrades, including a new Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset and a robust 7,000mAh battery. Recent leaks on Weibo have provided insights into the design and specifications of the Realme GT 8, which is anticipated to be launched alongside the Realme GT 8 Pro in October.

Design Innovations on the Horizon

Realme’s Vice President, Chase Xu, hinted at the excitement surrounding the upcoming GT 8 series in a recent post on Weibo. While he did not explicitly mention the device, his enthusiasm for the number “8” has led many to speculate about the new lineup. Additionally, Realme VP Wang Wei has indicated that the GT 8 will be launched in October, although a specific date has yet to be confirmed. This timing positions the GT 8 as one of the first smartphones to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 SoC, which is expected to be announced next month.

In a previous statement, Realme product manager Wei emphasized the importance of design in the success of their products. He promised that the GT 8 series would bring significant design changes, stating, โ€œI always believe that the first selling point of any product is its design. That’s why you can eagerly look forward to the upcoming GT 8 series. It’s sure to be a surprise.โ€ This commitment to innovation suggests that consumers can expect a fresh aesthetic alongside powerful performance.

Specifications and Features Leaked

Recent leaks have provided a glimpse into the specifications of the Realme GT 8. According to tipster Smart Pikachu, the device will feature a 6.6-inch flat display and maintain a battery capacity of approximately 7,000mAh. For context, the Realme GT 7 boasts a slightly larger 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a battery capacity of 7,200mAh in its Chinese variant. The Indian version of the GT 7, however, is equipped with a 7,000mAh battery.

Further insights from another Weibo tipster, Digital Chat Station, suggest that both the Realme GT 8 and GT 8 Pro will be launched in October, running on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. The Pro variant is rumored to feature a flat display with a 2K resolution, a premium metal frame, and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. Additionally, it may include an impressive 200-megapixel periscope telephoto sensor, enhancing its photography capabilities.

Realme GT 7 Recap

The Realme GT 7 was officially launched in India in May, following its initial release in China in April. It entered the market with a starting price of Rs. 39,999 for the model featuring 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The Indian variant operates on a MediaTek Dimensity 9400e chipset, while the Chinese version is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9400+ SoC. The GT 7 also includes a triple camera setup and supports 120W fast charging, making it a competitive option in the smartphone market.

As anticipation builds for the Realme GT 8 series, consumers and tech enthusiasts alike are eager to see how the new devices will enhance the features and performance established by their predecessor.
