Randeep Hooda and Lin Laishram Join Forces as Co-Owners of Delhi’s Prithviraj Yodhas in Archery Premier League
Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda and his wife, Lin Laishram, are embarking on an exciting new venture as co-owners of the Prithviraj Yodhas, a franchise in the inaugural Archery Premier League (APL). The league, which aims to elevate the profile of archery in India, will take place from October 2 to 12, 2025, at the Yamuna Sports Complex in Delhi. This partnership with visionary leader Dr. Vikas Garg marks a significant step for both Hooda and Laishram, who are passionate about promoting the sport and nurturing young talent.
Lin Laishram’s Journey in Archery
For Lin Laishram, this venture is a return to her roots in archery, a sport that has been integral to her life since childhood. Inspired by her father, who was the President of the Archery Association of Manipur, Lin began her archery journey at the age of 10. She quickly made a name for herself, competing in her first Sub-Junior Nationals and later training at the prestigious Tata Archery Academy. Throughout her career, she won numerous medals and claimed the Junior National Championship in 1998. Although an injury cut her competitive career short, her passion for archery has remained unwavering. Now, as a co-owner of the Prithviraj Yodhas, Lin is eager to support young archers and inspire the next generation.
Randeep Hooda’s Commitment to the Sport
Randeep Hooda expressed his enthusiasm about co-owning the team with Lin, emphasizing the significance of this partnership. He stated, “Owning a team with Lin is incredibly special. Archery has been a big part of her life, and seeing her return to the sport in this way is heartwarming.” Hooda believes that the APL will provide a platform for young talent to showcase their skills alongside international players, ultimately enriching the sport in India. He aims to help bridge the gap between archery and its audience, making it more accessible and engaging for fans across the country.
Vision for the Archery Premier League
The Archery Premier League is set to be a thrilling event, featuring top Indian archers such as Deepika Kumari, Dhiraj Bommadevara, Jyothi Surekha Vennam, and Rishabh Yadav, alongside international stars like Mike Schloesser from the Netherlands, Andrea Becerra from Mexico, and Brady Ellison from the USA. The league will consist of six franchises, each comprising a mix of Indian and foreign talent, competing in a double round-robin format that leads to semifinals and a final. Each team will include eight archers, with an equal representation of men and women. The APL aims to blend skill, strategy, and entertainment, making archery more exciting and accessible to fans.
Support from the Archery Community
The Archery Premier League is organized by the Archery Association of India (AAI) under the leadership of Former Member of Parliament and AAI President Shri Arjun Munda, along with AAI Secretary Shri Virendra Sachdeva. The league has garnered support from World Archery, World Archery Asia, and the Sports Ministry of India, highlighting its potential to transform Indian archery into a dynamic and fan-friendly sport. As the league approaches, the excitement continues to build, promising a new era for archery in India.
