PROBATIONERS OF INDIAN RAILWAYS CALL ON THE PRESIDENT

A group of 213 probationers of Indian Railways (2019, 2020 and 2021 batches) called on the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Center today (September 15, 2023).

Addressing the probationary workers, the President said that unlike any commercial organisation, Indian Railways is a social lifeline of the country. Bring the dreams of ordinary people. At the same time, its nationwide connectivity showcases the nation’s diversity. She was happy to note that Indian Railways has been upgrading its services to provide memorable experiences to people and offer glimpses of India’s diverse culture to Indians and visitors from abroad.

The President said that the development of railway infrastructure gives a great boost to the growth and socio-economic development of the country. The redevelopment of railway stations under the ‘Amrit Bharat Station Scheme’ using green technology and adding world-class amenities is a great people-centric initiative that would give a major boost to tourism activities and economic progress. He expressed confidence that young officers would play a productive role in making green and modernized Indian Railways and building a developed nation.

The President advised officials to acquire the necessary skills, knowledge and expertise in the transport ecosystem as a whole. He said they should study and adopt the best practices within the country and also those of other countries. He said the country needs an efficient multi-modal transport system for which rail, road, air and water transport should be managed with a holistic and not isolated approach. He urged the officers of Indian Railways to work in coordination with officers of other departments also to achieve the goal of an Atma Nirbhar and a developed nation.
