PROBATIONERS OF INDIAN POSTAL SERVICE CALL ON THE PRESIDENT

Indian Postal Service aspirants (batch 2021 & 2022) invited the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu to Rashtrapati Bhavan today (11 August 2023).

Speaking on the occasion, the President said the Post Office Department, with its remarkable 160-year journey, stands as a beacon in service to our nation. Its vast network of nearly 1,60,000 post offices makes it the largest postal network in the world. He added that India’s postal network serves as a common thread, tying together our diverse range of cultures and traditions.

The President appreciated the Post Office Department’s role in financial inclusion. She was happy to note that the department has taken strategic steps to close the financial gap and empower marginalized communities. She noted that the Post Office Department has played a vital role in the delivery of government subsidies, welfare payments and pensions. You said the continuous distribution of funds through post offices reduced reliance on intermediaries and minimized losses.

The president said that the role of Indian Postal Service officers revolves around serving the people of this nation and therefore a customer-centric approach is needed. He said that in an age marked by instant messaging and social media, the Post Office Department must evolve to stay relevant. She was pleased to note that the Department is actively modernizing its services to adapt to the digital landscape. You said that the innovative ideas of probationers will be invaluable in this transformational journey.
