On 24 August 2023 in Johannesburg, on the sidelines of the 15th BRICS summit, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met HE Macky Sall, President of the Republic of Senegal.
Both leaders had fruitful discussions on how to deepen their bilateral partnership in various sectors, including trade and investment, defense and security, energy, mining, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, railways, capacity building, culture and people-to-people ties .
The Prime Minister appreciated President Sall for his attendance at the Voice of Global South summit and his strong leadership towards the African Union last year.
President Sall congratulated the Prime Minister on the success of the Chandrayaan Mission and expressed his gratitude for India’s efforts for the African Union’s permanent membership in the G20. He appreciated the Prime Minister’s leadership in defending developing world priorities and expressed his best wishes for the success of the forthcoming G20 summit under the Indian presidency.
