Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met HE Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, Prime Minister of Greece, in Athens on 25 August 2023.
2. The two leaders had discussions individually and at delegation level. The Prime Minister has expressed his condolences for the loss of life and property in the tragic forest fire incidents in Greece.
3. Prime Minister Mitsotakis congratulated the Prime Minister on the success of the Chandrayaan mission, calling it a success for humanity.
4. Discussions covered various dimensions of the bilateral partnership, including trade and investment, defense and security, technology, infrastructure, digital payments, shipping, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, migration and mobility, tourism, skills development, culture, education and people among people ties. They also discussed regional and multilateral issues, including the EU, the Indo-Pacific and the Mediterranean. They called for respect for international law, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
5. Both sides have agreed to elevate their relationship to a “strategic partnership”.
