Prime minister of Nepal Call on President

HE Mr. Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, the Chief Minister of Nepal invited the President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu to Rashtrapati Bhavan today (1 June 2023).

The President welcomed Prime Minister Prachanda and congratulated him on his appointment as Chief Minister of Nepal. He said that in view of its long-standing association with India and his experience, India looks forward to a positive agenda in India-Nepal bilateral relations to take the age-old partnership to new heights. He expressed confidence that this visit will further strengthen the strong bond between the two countries.

The President noted that the India-Nepal bilateral cooperation has gone from strength to strength in recent years. Trade between the two countries has also been maintained during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The president said the open border between India and Nepal has encouraged tourism on both sides. He underlined the need to relaunch the spiritual tourist circuit to promote contact and tourism between people. He said twinning agreements and improved financial connectivity can also boost tourism between our two countries.

The president said Nepal is a priority for India. He added that India looks forward to furthering our development partnership, including the early completion of major projects.
