Prime Minister addresses Indian Association of Physiotherapists

In a video message, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 60th National Conference of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP) in Ahmedabad today.

During the event, the Prime Minister recognized the importance of physiotherapists as providers of solace, symbols of hope, resilience, and recovery. A physiotherapist helps patients deal with psychological challenges as well as physical injuries, he said.

According to the Prime Minister, the same spirit of providing support in times of need permeates governance as well. With the provision of basic needs like bank accounts, toilets, tap water, free medical treatment and a social security net, the poor and middle classes of the country are gaining the courage to dream. As the Prime Minister said, “We have shown the world that they are capable of reaching new heights with their potential”.

He also spoke of the characteristics of the profession that ensure patient self-reliance and said that India is also moving towards Aatmnirbharta. There are a number of schemes and Jan Andolans like Swacch Bharat and Beti Bachao which symbolize the ‘Sabka Prayas’, the Prime Minister said.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister emphasized the spirit of physiotherapy, which conveys many key messages such as consistency, continuity and conviction, which are also important for governance policies.

The Prime Minister said that in the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava, Physiotherapists received much-awaited recognition as a profession as the government brought the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professionals Bill which recognizes the contribution of physiotherapists in the nation’s healthcare system. As a result, you can work both in India and abroad. Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission now includes physiotherapists as well. According to Shri Modi, this has made it easier for you to reach patients. As part of the Fit India Movement and Khelo India, the Prime Minister discussed the growing opportunities for physiotherapists.
