The President of India,Smt Droupadi Murmu, today received His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia in Rashtrapati Bhavan (May 30, 2023). The president even organized a banquet in his honor.
Welcoming King Sihamoni during his first visit to the Indian president said that his visit demonstrates the importance Cambodia attaches to its ties with India. He said India and Cambodia share a rich and vibrant relationship. We value our shared history and regard Cambodia as our civilizational twin country.
The president noted that there is great potential for further growth of trade and investment between India and Cambodia. He said India is keen to further elevate its defense relationship with Cambodia. He also stressed the need to make efforts to increase tourism and people–contact with people For further elevating of bilateral relations between the two countries.
The President said that India in its presidency of the G-20 has led the interest of developing countries of the global South. He appreciated Prime Minister Hun Sen’s attendance at the inaugural session of the Voice of Global South Summit in February this year. She congratulated Cambodia for successfully carrying out the ASEAN Chairmanship last year.
Subsequently, in his speech at the banquet, the President said that India is privileged to partner with Cambodia in its quest of nation-building through capacity building, human resource development and providing assistance for socio-economic projects . He said that India believes in the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which means The world is one family. She added that the multiple ties between India and Cambodia and Her Majesty’s august presence in Rashtrapati Bhavan with us today are beautiful expressions of this age-old concept.
