The Inauguration of Bharat Scouts and Guides’ 18th National Jamboree at Pali, Rajasthan was graced by President Droupadi Murmu today (January 4, 2023).

The President noted that Bharat Scouts and Guides is the largest voluntary, non-political, uniformed youth organization in the country. Regardless of creed, race, or gender, it strives to build character in boys and girls. Over 63 lakh Scouts and Guides are members of Bharat Scouts and Guides, one of the largest Scouts and Guides organizations in the world. Members of this organization are dedicated to promoting humanity’s welfare through their service and dedication. Everyone should imbibe this spirit of humanity and love.

According to the President, Scouts and Guides make a promise to keep themselves physically strong, mentally alert, and morally upright to help the collective well-being of society. When these characteristics of higher consciousness are followed, the world becomes a better place.

Following the example of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Bill Gates, both Scouts, the President advised Scouts and Guides to adopt universal values and ethos that will guide them in the future. The lessons they learn as Scouts and Guides will enrich their lives in countless ways, she said.

Bharat Scouts and Guides demonstrated exemplary courage during the COVID-19 pandemic, the President said. When it comes to the ill effects of climate change, she said that rising temperatures, sea levels, and weather uncertainty are quite evident. It is imperative that we take immediate corrective measures before it is too late. Scouts and Guides can play a significant role in promoting sustainable development practices, renewable energy, and reducing carbon footprints. Educating people about the importance of protecting biodiversity and maintaining environmental balance is Scouts and Guides’ duty, she said.

According to the President, India is one of the youngest countries in the world today. The youth are the builders of the nation’s future. In her opinion, the world is changing very fast, and they need to be prepared for the future. They should set higher goals to meet the future challenges that the country and society would be facing. By moving forward with complete faith in themselves, the Scouts and Guides will succeed.
