According to the President, Scouts and Guides make a promise to keep themselves physically strong, mentally alert, and morally upright to help the collective well-being of society. When these characteristics of higher consciousness are followed, the world becomes a better place.

Following the example of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Bill Gates, both Scouts, the President advised Scouts and Guides to adopt universal values and ethos that will guide them in the future. The lessons they learn as Scouts and Guides will enrich their lives in countless ways, she said.

Bharat Scouts and Guides demonstrated exemplary courage during the COVID-19 pandemic, the President said. It is imperative that we take immediate corrective measures before it is too late. Scouts and Guides can play a significant role in promoting sustainable development practices, renewable energy, and reducing carbon footprints. Educating people about the importance of protecting biodiversity and maintaining environmental balance is Scouts and Guides’ duty, she said.

According to the President, India is one of the youngest countries in the world today. The youth are the builders of the nation’s future. In her opinion, the world is changing very fast, and they need to be prepared for the future.
