President of India Graces The Valedictory Session of 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention

The President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu attended a civic reception organized in his honor by the Government of Jharkhand at Raj Bhavan, Ranchi this evening (25 May 2023).

Speaking on the occasion, the President said that the existence of the state of Jharkhand may not be very old, but this region has had a distinct identity since ancient times. The example set by the people of Jharkhand in respecting water, forests and land and adopting a natural lifestyle has become more prominent in this time of environmental crisis. Noting that about 30 percent of this state’s area is covered by forests, he said moving forward on the path of development, protecting and enhancing precious forest wealth is the right way to achieve sustainable progress.

The President said that prioritizing the group over the individual is a key feature of Jharkhand society. He urged everyone to keep alive and strengthen this spirit of cooperation and community.

The president said that Jharkhand is full of attractive natural beauty and has immense potential for development in the field of ecotourism. He expressed confidence that proper development of this sector would provide many employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for the youth of the state.

The President said that the land of Jharkhand is called Ratna-Garbha due to the priceless minerals present here. It is one of the wealthiest states in the country in terms of mineral wealth. But the most precious gems of Jharkhand are the hardworking, loving and simple people of the state.

The president said that many modern industries especially those based on mineral materials have been established in Jharkhand. These industries paved the way for modern development. Efforts have been made in recent years to develop the infrastructure of Jharkhand on a large scale. He stressed that the benefits of modern development should reach all sectors of society, especially the marginalized. He expressed his best wishes to Jharkhand to rank among the leading states of the country in terms of development in the near future.
