PM Modi to Launch Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Andhra Pradesh with Rs 5,640-Crore Investment
Andhra Pradesh will receive a significant boost in aviation infrastructure as Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurates the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Bhogapuram, Vizianagaram district, on Saturday. This event is part of a two-state visit that includes Karnataka. During his visit, PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects valued at over Rs 17,900 crore in Bhogapuram.
The airport, developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, has an investment of more than Rs 5,640 crore. It is designed to accommodate six million passengers annually, enhancing air connectivity and supporting regional growth. PM Modi will conduct a walkthrough of the airport’s passenger terminal building ahead of the inauguration.
Key Features of the Airport
The passenger terminal is equipped with advanced technology, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Building Information Modelling (BIM), and an Airport Predictive Operations Centre (APOC). These features aim to improve operational efficiency and enhance passenger convenience and safety. The terminal also includes automated baggage handling systems and intelligent operational monitoring solutions.
Sustainability is a key focus of the airport’s design. It features energy-efficient heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, a 5 MW solar power plant, and rainwater harvesting. The terminal is designed in accordance with Green Building Standards and is registered with the US Green Building Council (USGBC).
The Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport is expected to stimulate tourism, trade, investment, and employment in Andhra Pradesh. Alongside the airport inauguration, PM Modi will launch several other development projects, including Andhra Pradesh’s first semiconductor manufacturing facility under the India Semiconductor Mission. The Rs 460-crore ASIP Semiconductor Project in Visakhapatnam is projected to manufacture around 96 million semiconductor chips annually and create high-skilled jobs.
