Philips Hue Unveils 10+ New Devices, Featuring Bridge Pro and OmniGlow

Signify, the parent company of Philips Hue, has unveiled over ten new products at a launch event in Berlin, coinciding with the IFA trade show. Among the highlights are the highly anticipated Philips Hue Bridge Pro, innovative light strips, a new video doorbell, and a variety of smart bulbs. This launch is being touted as the most significant in the history of the Philips Hue brand. Additionally, Signify has announced a partnership with Sonos, enabling users to control their Hue lights through voice commands via Sonos smart speakers.

Philips Hue Bridge Pro: A Game-Changer

The Philips Hue Bridge Pro is a revolutionary hub designed to connect Philips Hue devices more efficiently. This new model can support up to 150 smart lights and 50 accessories, which is three times the capacity of its predecessor, the Philips Hue Bridge V2. This upgrade is particularly beneficial for larger homes where users may have exceeded the previous limit and required multiple bridges. The Bridge Pro also introduces a feature called MotionAware, allowing Hue lights to function as motion sensors without additional hardware. This technology detects disruptions in the signal between devices to determine if someone has entered the area, enhancing both convenience and security.

Moreover, the Bridge Pro can store up to 500 scenes, providing users with extensive customization options for their lighting setups. Unlike the previous model, it offers the flexibility of connecting via Wi-Fi, eliminating the need for an Ethernet cable. For existing Philips Hue users, migrating settings from the older Bridge V2 to the new Bridge Pro is straightforward, although merging multiple bridges into one will require a software update expected later this year.

Philips Hue Essential: Affordable Smart Lighting

The Philips Hue Essential line introduces a range of smart bulbs and light strips that offer a more budget-friendly entry into the smart lighting ecosystem. These bulbs, available in A19 and GU10 spotlight versions, are designed to be less bright than traditional Philips Hue bulbs and have limited dimming capabilities. However, they still integrate seamlessly into the Philips Hue system, allowing users to control basic functions via Bluetooth or unlock advanced features with a Philips Hue Bridge.

The Essential range includes various products, such as A19 bulbs, GU10 spotlights, and flexible strip lights, which can be purchased individually or in starter kits. These products are set to launch in September, with prices starting at $24.99 for A19 bulbs and $59.99 for strip lights. This new line aims to make smart lighting more accessible to a broader audience while maintaining compatibility with existing Philips Hue setups.

Philips Hue OmniGlow: Seamless Lighting Solutions

Among the new offerings is the Philips Hue OmniGlow, a light strip that promises a “perfectly spot-free” lighting experience. This innovative strip features tiny LEDs that are less than 0.5mm in size, allowing for a smooth, gradient light without visible individual bulbs. The OmniGlow can emit up to 900 lumens per meter, making it suitable for both decorative and functional lighting applications, such as illuminating staircases.

In addition to the OmniGlow, Signify has introduced other light strips, including the Philips Hue Flux series, which offers both regular and extra bright options, as well as outdoor variants. These products will be available in the U.S. starting in October, with the OmniGlow priced at $139.99 for a three-meter strip. The UK release is expected between October and December, with similar pricing.

Philips Hue Secure Video Doorbell: Enhanced Home Security

The Philips Hue Secure Video Doorbell is the latest addition to the Philips Hue security lineup, featuring 2K resolution for clear footage of visitors and packages. This doorbell integrates with the Philips Hue lighting system, allowing users to trigger outdoor lights when someone rings the bell or when motion is detected. A separate chime can be plugged in anywhere in the home for audible alerts.

Users can view live footage from the doorbell or a connected indoor camera via their smartphones. Starting later this year, Signify will offer free 24-hour video playback, with longer storage options available through a paid subscription. The video doorbell will be available in the U.S. and UK from October 2025, priced at $169.99 and ยฃ139.99, respectively, while the chime will retail for $59.99 and ยฃ49.99.
