PDUNASS Completes Orientation Training for Newly Promoted Assistant Provident Fund Commissioners

The Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya National Academy of Social Security (PDUNASS) in New Delhi has successfully concluded a three-week Orientation Training Programme for newly promoted Assistant Provident Fund Commissioners (APFCs). The event’s valedictory session featured Shri Ramesh Krishnamurthi, the Central Provident Fund Commissioner (CPFC), who praised the Academy’s commitment to developing future leaders in the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) with a strong foundation in knowledge, empathy, and public service values. The training emphasized critical themes that will enhance the officers’ capabilities in serving the public effectively.

Training Highlights and Curriculum

The Orientation Training Programme provided a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip the new APFCs with essential skills and insights. Trainees engaged in immersive classroom sessions and dynamic team-building activities, focusing on themes such as a customer-centric approach, ethics, compassion, landmark court judgments, audio-visual learning, and design thinking. One trainee expressed gratitude for the well-rounded course structure, noting that the training offered a renewed perspective and deeper insights into their roles. The programme aimed to foster a holistic understanding of public service, emphasizing the importance of empathy and ethical governance.

Shri Ramesh Krishnamurthi commended the enthusiastic participation of the trainees and acknowledged the leadership of Shri Kumar Rohit, the Additional Central P.F. Commissioner and Director of PDUNASS. He encouraged the officers to uphold the core values of integrity, accountability, and empathy in their interactions with over 300 million subscribers. The CPFC also released a series of booklets authored by the trainees, showcasing their reflections and creative initiatives during the training.

Innovative Approaches to Learning

PDUNASS has adopted an evolving pedagogical approach that integrates modern teaching tools with interactive methodologies. Shri Kumar Rohit highlighted the Academy’s commitment to nurturing citizen-centric public servants through innovative training techniques. A notable addition to the curriculum was the pioneering course on “Compassion in Governance,” designed by Shri Sanjay Rai, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner-I. This course is the first of its kind in India, emphasizing the importance of empathy and emotional intelligence in public administration.

The training programme also included a four-day outbound training session aimed at experiential learning and team-building. Weekly assessments were conducted to track the trainees’ progress, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the material. Audio-visual modules were utilized to enhance engagement and facilitate better learning outcomes.

Acknowledging Excellence and Future Directions

To promote excellence among the trainees, awards were presented in various categories, including best classroom performance and outstanding contributions to initiatives like the “Delicious Initiative.” Additional accolades were given for achievements on the iGOT learning platform and in extracurricular activities such as yoga, chess, badminton, table tennis, and cycling. These recognitions aimed to motivate the trainees and reinforce the importance of a well-rounded approach to public service.

Shri Ram Anand, Regional P.F. Commissioner-I and Course Director, provided a detailed report on the training programme, noting that 50% of the curriculum focused on behavioral and leadership development. Esteemed faculty from prestigious institutions, including the National Institute of Design and National Law University, delivered sessions, ensuring a high-quality educational experience.
