By crossing 75 thousand approvals, the National Single Window System (NSWS) Portal for various clearances from the Central Government and State/UT agencies has reached a new milestone.

So far, NSWS has had 4,20,000 unique visitors from 157 countries. There are more than 1,50,000 investors who have used the KYA (Know Your Approvals) Module of NSWS to know which approvals they need for their specific business cases. Out of over 1,23,000 applications, 75,599 have been approved.

A total of 57,850 approvals have been approved by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Over 17,150 approvals have been approved through NSWS by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs. NSWS provides a single interface for applying for all G2B clearances from different ministries/departments and eliminating duplication of work by auto-populating form fields across different approvals.

Additionally, NSWS has been onboarded with government schemes such as Vehicle Scrapping Policy (VSP), Indian Footwear and Leather Development Policy (IFLDP), Sugar and Ethanol Policy, and High-Efficiency Solar PV Modules Program under PLI Schemes. Through these schemes, NSWS has helped more than 400 investors apply for DPIIT’s IFLDP, 25 investors have applied for RVSF applications, and 19 investors have applied for ATS applications. The Department of Food and Public Distribution has registered more than 2,000 investors under the Sugar and Ethanol Scheme.

A meeting with all the states and ministries was held on 5th December 2022 by the Union Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal in order to build a national single-window architecture, where all stakeholders were invited to make suggestions for further streamlining the entire ecosystem. In response to user/industrial feedback, the portal will gradually add more approvals and licenses.

Union Minister Shri Piyush Goyal soft-launched the National Single Window System on 22nd September 2021. On the portal, investors can apply for approval from 27 Central Ministries/Departments and 19 States/UTs. A one-stop shop for investment-related regulatory approvals and services is what the portal aims to be.

NSWS is a great example of the ‘Whole of Government’ approach since it combines different Central Ministries/Departments, States, and UTs to streamline investor clearances on a single website, with transparency and accountability, which makes doing business so much easier.
