Oukitel WP60 Rugged Smartphone Debuts with Massive 7.2-Inch Display and 108MP Camera

Oukitel has unveiled its latest rugged smartphone, the WP60, at IFA 2025, boasting an impressive 7.2-inch display and a powerful 108MP rear camera. This device aims to set itself apart in the competitive rugged smartphone market, challenging established brands like Doogee and Ulefone. With storage options ranging from 256GB to a maximum of 512GB, the WP60 is designed to cater to both casual users and those with more demanding needs.

A Phablet-Like Experience

The Oukitel WP60 features a massive 7.2-inch HD+ display, measuring 184 x 87 x 14.9mm, which positions it more as a phablet than a traditional rugged smartphone. This large screen, combined with Android 15.0, makes it an appealing choice for users who typically rely on rugged tablets for fieldwork. However, the device’s resolution of 720 x 1560 may not meet the clarity expectations of professionals who require sharp displays for productivity and communication tasks. This limitation could be a significant drawback for business users who prioritize display quality in their devices.

Performance and Storage Options

Under the hood, the WP60 is powered by the MTK Dimensity 7025 chipset, offering three configurations: 8GB+256GB, 12GB+512GB, and 16GB+512GB. This range indicates that Oukitel is targeting both basic users and those who need more robust performance. However, the chipset may struggle with demanding applications, particularly for users opting for the higher storage configurations. The smartphone also features a 32MP front camera, housed in a punch-hole design, which is suitable for selfies and video calls. The rear camera setup is particularly noteworthy, as it includes a 108MP main sensor, complemented by an 8MP and a 2MP sensor, a rarity in rugged devices.

Battery Life and Design

To ensure longevity, the Oukitel WP60 is equipped with a substantial 10,000mAh battery, supporting 33W PD charging. This battery capacity is typical for rugged smartphones, although Oukitel has previously released models with varying sizes, such as the WP200 Pro and WP210 with 8,800mAh batteries, and the WP56 featuring a larger 16,000mAh unit. The design of the WP60 mirrors that of the Oukitel WP8 Pro from 2020, available in yellow, gray, and silver. Additional features include fingerprint recognition, NFC capabilities, and a gyroscope, enhancing the device’s functionality for users in various environments.

The Oukitel WP60 is set to launch on October 15, 2025, although the company has yet to disclose pricing details. As it enters the market, it will be interesting to see how it performs against its competitors in the rugged smartphone segment.
