In his reply in the upper house of India Parliament, he has mentioned that current installed nuclear power capacity in the country is 6780 MW and further elaborated hat nuclearย power is not only clean and environmentally friendly, but it is also a source of base load power available 24×7 like thermal power.
He also brought the COP26 Summit and PM statement. During the COP26 Summit held in Glasgow, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India will reach 500 GW of non-fossil energy by 2030 and meet 50 percent of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2030.
During the COP26 Summit held in Glasgow, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India will reach 500 GW of non-fossil energy by 2030 and meet 50 percent of its energy needs from renewable sources by 2030.
Regarding the Government’s plan to meet the energy demands of the country by using both renewable and non-renewable energy sources in the next 10 years. According to him, there are 79 hydro schemes with an aggregate capacity of more than 30.000 MW (forming 11 Pumped Storage Schemes of 8700 MW) planned for the next 10 years (2020 – 2030).
As a result of the above 79 projects, 5 hydro schemes with a total capacity of 1023 MW have since been commissioned. On progressing completion of projects under construction, nuclear power capacity will increase from 6780 MW to 22480 MW by 2031. More nuclear power plants are planned in the future.
Additionally, 31665 MW of coal-based capacity is in various stages of construction.
India is also exploring diverse options like biofuels, renewable energy, and green Hydrogen to move the economy towards Carbon neutral.ย There is also encouragement for adaptationย of Hydrogen fuelsย and technology for the mobility sector and many industries like Steel, Cement, and Glass Manufacturing Industries have already started using Hydrogen for heating requirements.
