NTPC REL Secures Bid for 80 MW Floating Solar Project at Omkareshwar Reservoir in Madhya Pradesh

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited is the successful tenderer for 80 MW of floating solar capacity at Omkareshwar Reservoir, Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh.

The race was held on the 8thth August 2023 by Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Limited (RUMSL), the JV Company of Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and MP Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd. The uncovered rate is ₹ 3.80/kWh and the power generated by the project will be used by MP state DISCOM.

With the completion of this project, NTPC’s floating solar capacity will be 342 MW. The largest floating solar project in the country has a capacity of 100 MW located at NTPC Ramagundam in Telangana.

To date, NTPC Group has 3.3 GW RE operational capacity, 20 GW pipelined RE capacity, including a 4 GW energy storage system, and the country’s first green hydrogen-based PNG blending project.

NTPC is committed to achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032 and to be a major player in green hydrogen technology and energy storage.
