Northeast Trade and Investment Roadshow in Mumbai

The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) is gearing up for an important event. On December 16, 2024, the Northeast Trade and Investment Roadshow will take place in Mumbai. This event will be held at The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Colaba, starting at 3:30 PM. It aims to attract potential investors and showcase the diverse opportunities available in the northeastern states of India. Key figures, including Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, the Union Minister for MDoNER, and Chief Ministers from Tripura and Meghalaya, will address the attendees. This roadshow is part of a broader initiative to enhance investment in the region and promote economic growth.

A Platform for Investment Opportunities

The Northeast Trade and Investment Roadshow will provide a unique platform for business-to-government (B2G) meetings. These meetings will allow potential investors to interact directly with state representatives. Investors will have the chance to explore various investment opportunities across multiple sectors. The event is organized in collaboration with the state governments of the northeastern states, FICCI as the industry partner, and Invest India as the investment facilitation partner.

During the roadshow, representatives from eight northeastern statesโ€”Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripuraโ€”will present their investment prospects. They will highlight key sectors such as agri-food processing, IT and ITES, entertainment, energy, infrastructure, tourism, education, and healthcare. These sectors are crucial for driving economic growth in the region. The event aims to attract significant investments that can help unlock the untapped potential of the northeastern states.

Building on Previous Successes

This Mumbai roadshow marks the sixth event in a series aimed at promoting investment in the northeastern region. Previous roadshows have taken place in major cities like Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Bengaluru. These events have generated considerable interest from potential investors. The MDoNER also organized a signing and exchange of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for the North East Investors Summit in March 2024. This event facilitated discussions between senior officials and investors, further enhancing the investment landscape.

The recent roadshow in Hyderabad, attended by the Minister of State for MDoNER, Dr. Sukanta Majumdar, also witnessed several B2G meetings. These meetings fostered potential investments and showcased the growing interest in the region. The Mumbai Roadshow aims to continue this momentum, enabling investors to engage directly with state officials and explore the investment opportunities available.

Vision for a Developed North East

The Northeast Trade and Investment Roadshow aligns with the vision of Honโ€™ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who envisions a ‘Viksit Bharat and Viksit North East.’ Over the past decade, significant efforts have been made to improve infrastructure in the region. Developments in roadways, highways, airways, railways, and waterways have positively impacted the lives of the people. These initiatives have led to a surge in tourism and economic activities, contributing to the overall growth of the region.

The North East Investor Summit serves as a catalyst for attracting investments and unlocking the region’s potential. By showcasing the diverse opportunities available, the roadshow aims to empower investors to become part of the thriving investment landscape in North East India. The session will feature valuable insights from Honโ€™ble Ministers and state presentations, highlighting the investment opportunities that await in this vibrant region.
