The Union Minister for Coal and Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, recently convened a review meeting in Chennai to discuss the ongoing projects of NLC India Limited (NLCIL). During the meeting, Minister Kishan Reddy underscored the Prime Minister’s vision of creating a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047. This ambitious goal includes significant reforms in the mining sector. The Minister praised NLCIL as one of India’s top-performing public sector companies. He highlighted the company’s successful diversification into renewable energy, noting that it was the first public sector unit in the country to exceed one gigawatt (GW) of renewable energy capacity.

The company has made significant strides in capacity addition through its coal mines located in Talabira, South Pachwara, North Dhadu, Machhakata, and Patrapara. Additionally, the Minister praised the construction of a 3 x 800 MW Thermal Power Project at Talabira, which was inaugurated by the Prime Minister.

During the meeting, the Minister virtually inaugurated a new museum named “Parampariyam,” located in Neyveli. This museum showcases the history and achievements of NLCIL since its inception in 1956. The transformation of an unused building into a museum reflects the company’s commitment to preserving its legacy while educating the public.
Furthermore, the launch of the “NLCIL WINGS” mobile app and the updated NLCIL website demonstrates the company’s dedication to innovation and digital engagement. These tools will enhance communication and provide stakeholders with easier access to information about NLCIL’s projects and initiatives.
