Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, tweeted that the work to upgrade and renovate the NH-25 Extension of District Barmer in Rajasthan to a two-lane road with a paved shoulder has been approved under an EPC contract at a cost of Rs.235.15 crore.

According to him, the project passes through backward Rajasthan districts. If the route is improved, the region can develop economically, and traffic will move freely. In addition to connecting Jaisalmer-Barmer-Sanchor with NH-25 (Jodhpur-Pachpadra-Barmer), it’ll also connect to Bakasar-Gagadiya.

He said NH-25 (Ext.) connects Munabao-Dhanana-Tanot (NH-70) with the Bharatmala road network. The road also connects Munabao with Barmer district headquarters, where there are a couple of military bases. From a strategic perspective, he said, it’s really important to provide logistics to Munabao (International Border), which is currently one lane.
