New Youth Parliament Portal Opens Doors to All Students
The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has officially launched NYPS 2.0, an enhanced version of the National Youth Parliament Scheme web portal. This upgraded platform aims to broaden participation in the Youth Parliament Programme, providing opportunities for students nationwide, including those from remote and rural areas.
Previously, participation in the Youth Parliament was restricted to students from recognized educational institutions. However, NYPS 2.0 now welcomes individuals from all educational backgrounds, groups, and even independent citizens. This inclusive approach eliminates barriers based on gender, caste, religion, or region, ensuring that every voice can be heard in the upcoming youth parliament sessions.
Participation Overview
According to the latest data provided by the Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs, Dr. L. Murugan, since its launch on September 11, 2024, till January 27, 2026, NYPS has seen substantial involvement. The initiative has recorded:
- 4,432 registrations from educational institutions
- 1,536 group participations
- 52,283 individual registrations
In total, the program organized 660 Youth Parliament sittings, allowing a remarkable 95,319 citizens and students to participate. This strong turnout reflects a growing interest in youth engagement at the national level.
Community Engagement and Awareness
To enhance awareness and inclusivity regarding NYPS 2.0, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has actively communicated with all State Governments, Union Territory Administrations, and various educational boards, including CBSE and CISCE. The Ministry has also been utilizing media outlets like Sansad TV to broadcast promotional videos about the program.
This initiative marks a significant step toward fostering democratic values among the youth of India, encouraging them to engage with parliamentary processes and voice their opinions. As the platform evolves, its dedication to inclusivity and participation will likely inspire a new generation of informed citizens.
