New Technology Centre Opens in Bengaluru to Boost MSMEs
The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) is set to unveil a new Technology Centre in Devanahalli, Bengaluru, on September 10, 2026. Hon’ble Minister of State, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, will officiate the inauguration, which will also be attended by other distinguished guests including Shri Krishna Byre Gowda, Karnataka’s Minister for Greater Bengaluru Development, and Shri Vijayanand Kashappanavar, Minister of Small Scale Industries and Public Enterprises. The ceremony will offer an exhibition highlighting the significant contributions made by Indian MSMEs in the Aerospace and Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) sectors.
A Strategic Initiative for MSMEs
The newly established Technology Centre is part of a nationwide initiative aimed at enhancing the technological capabilities of MSMEs. This strategic move is aligned with the government’s vision of fostering an enabling environment where these enterprises can thrive. The Centre will play a pivotal role in technology development, training, design, and testing that will ultimately bolster the competitiveness of the MSME sector.
Investment and Facilities
The Bengaluru Technology Centre has been developed with a substantial investment of ₹156 crore and spans over a 10-acre land parcel allocated by the Karnataka government. It boasts modern infrastructure including a Training Block, Production Block, Administrative Block, and accommodations for staff and trainees. This Centre aims to provide world-class support to MSMEs in the region.
State-of-the-Art Technology for Growth
Focusing on the Electronics System Design and Manufacturing sector, the Centre is equipped with cutting-edge technologies such as Surface-Mount Technology lines, additive manufacturing, and CNC machines. Comprehensive support services including testing laboratories and design assistance will further strengthen the technological capacities of local MSMEs, enhancing productivity and global competitiveness.
An Ecosystem of Innovation and Skill Development
The Centre is strategically located near a dynamic ecosystem of leading industries, including Mitsubishi Electric, Texas Instruments, and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited. This proximity provides unique opportunities for collaboration and innovation. Additionally, the Centre aims to skill up to 10,000 trainees annually across various specialized areas such as embedded system design and robotics.
