New Souvenir Shop Opens at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre

In a significant move to celebrate cultural heritage and support the arts, Dr. Virendra Kumar, the Hon’ble Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment, inaugurated a brand-new Souvenir Shop at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre (DAIC) in New Delhi. This initiative aims to showcase and sell an array of specially selected souvenirs, books, and handmade products that are inspired by the life and philosophies of Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, reflecting his vision of social justice and equality.

A Tribute to Dr. Ambedkar

The event commenced with a heartfelt tribute to Dr. Ambedkar. The minister, alongside senior officials and guests, offered flowers at the prominent 18-feet statue of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar located on the DAIC’s campus. Created by renowned sculptor Ram V. Sutar, this statue serves as both a tribute and a reminder of Dr. Ambedkar’s enduring contributions to the cause of justice, education, and equality.

A Peek into the Souvenir Shop

Following the tribute, the Minister officially opened the Souvenir Shop, where a variety of items were on display. Visitors can find a range of products, including books detailing Dr. Ambedkar’s life and work, unique gift items, and handmade crafts. The shop aims to enhance awareness of Dr. Ambedkar’s thoughts while providing a platform for local artisans to showcase their creativity. In his remarks, the Hon’ble Minister emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting India’s artistic traditions, noting that such initiatives create job opportunities for artisans and contribute to inclusive development.

Fostering Creativity and Enthusiasm

Dr. Kumar expressed hope that the Souvenir Shop will attract a diverse array of visitors, including researchers and cultural enthusiasts, who frequent the Centre for various academic and cultural programs. The presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, as well as attendees from the Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial (DANM), highlighted the significance of this initiative.

The atmosphere remained lively and positive as guests interacted over high tea following the program. The Souvenir Shop has already garnered appreciation, marking it as a promising addition to the DAIC’s efforts in promoting heritage and artistic expression.
