New Mediclaim Policy Unveiled for CGHS Beneficiaries

In a significant development for Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) beneficiaries, the Department of Financial Services (DFS) under the Ministry of Finance has launched the Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima. This new health insurance policy promises cashless facilities, access to modern treatments, and an expansive network of hospitals, enhancing healthcare accessibility for enrolled individuals.

The Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima is tailored exclusively for CGHS beneficiaries, allowing coverage for up to six family members per policy. Notably, the policy offers indemnity-based in-patient hospitalization coverage throughout India, with sum insured options set at ₹10 Lakh or ₹20 Lakh. Additionally, there is a co-payment component that permits beneficiaries to select between a 70:30 or 50:50 cost-sharing arrangement between the insurance provider and subscribers.

Key Features of the New Policy

This innovative health insurance plan encompasses several key features aimed at delivering comprehensive coverage. For instance, the room rent is capped at 1% of the sum insured per day for standard wards and 2% for Intensive Care Units (ICUs). Furthermore, beneficiaries can avail of pre-hospitalization coverage for a duration of 30 days and post-hospitalization coverage for up to 60 days.

Importantly, AYUSH treatments will be covered up to 100% of the sum insured for in-patient hospitalization, addressing a critical area of healthcare. Modern treatments are also included, with coverage up to 25% of the sum insured and an option for full coverage through an additional rider. Additionally, policyholders can benefit from a cumulative bonus of 10% for each claim-free year, which can accumulate to a maximum of 100% of the sum insured.

Affordability and Accessibility

This policy is designed to be more affordable compared to regular options, offering discounts of 28% and 42% for the respective co-sharing percentages of 70:30 and 50:50. Excitingly, it will be available without GST, further enhancing its accessibility to CGHS beneficiaries.

The Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima is structured to complement existing health benefits, providing a seamless healthcare experience with greater flexibility. The launch of this policy aims to bolster financial security and confidence among CGHS beneficiaries, empowering them with superior healthcare options across India.

Beneficiaries can look forward to acquiring this optional health insurance plan soon, through the offices and online platform of the New India Assurance Company Limited.
